The Mr. Dan's Story.

The first Mr. Dan’s Restaurant opened in 1950 (then called Gay Dan’s after the Gay 1890’s carnival wagons that moved from town to town and the name was changed to Mr. Dan’s in 1970) at the corner of 14^th and Illinois in downtown Indianapolis.  Since then, Mr. Dan’s has grown to be an Indy Legend.

Serving made to order, fresh, never frozen hamburgers, Nathan’s All Beef Hot Dogs, Charlie & Barney’s Chili and other great menu items, Mr. Dan’s Hamburgers has grown into a diners dream. Most locations are open 24 hours and closed on Sundays. Mr. Dan’s offers one of the best quick breakfasts featuring our BIG HOSS Breakfast Sandwich or tasty Biscuits and Gravy.

For over 60 years, Mr. Dan’s Hamburgers has filled a hungry niche by satisfying taste buds all over Indianapolis. Many people have fond memories of going to their favorite Mr. Dan’s as children and are still frequenting our stores today. We are now on a mission to grow the Mr. Dan’s concept through franchising and provide great tasting, made to order food that is prepared right in full view of our customers to even more people.
